Overview of Input and Report Template Management

Input templates are used to enter and save data into the Clausion Financial Performance Management system database. Report templates are used to retrieve information that has been saved to the database.

An input or report template consists of a spreadsheet type workbook that can include one or more tabs and an XML file that contains the settings for the input/report template. The templates are saved into the Clausion FPM database. In other words, the workbook is an image of what the input or report template should look like and the XML definitions file tells the application what data to put where in the template.

Note! The input and report template management functions are available in the Clausion FPM Desktop Client.

Note! The input and report template management functions are available for users who have administrator rights.

To be accessible by Clausion FPM users, the template must be added to the user interface.

The following issues must be defined in the user interface task of the template:

Location in the navigation tree

Predefined selections, functions that the user can change, and which selections the user can do

Fixed selections shown to the user

For instructions about creating user interface tasks, see User Interface Management.

Example templates

These topics describe the creation of input and report templates with the help of example templates that are available in Clausion FPM. For a list of available example templates, see Example Templates.

Excerpts from the XML definitions files of example templates are used. For a thorough description of elements in the XML definitions files, refer to Clausion Financial Performance Management Input and Report Template Parameters.

Structures used in the examples:

Company X with Segments A and B (dim00)

Regions North, East, South and West (dim01)

Accounts 1000 Sales, 2000 Costs and 9000 Profit (net of Sales and Costs)

Note! To be able to use all the example templates, for example, in your test environment, the above described structure must be created. If the account or unit code used in the example template is already in use in your test environment, change the code in the template to correspond the code created for test purposes. IDs used in production should not be used for testing, so that you will not by mistake save undesired data or override any important data.

Input and report template variables

In many cases it is practical to use variables of type %variable name% in template workbooks and with parameters in the XML definitions file. These variables are described in Clausion Financial Performance Management Input and Report Template Parameters.

You can also add customer-specific global parameters to the system. For instructions, see Global Parameters.
