Managing Periodizing Patterns

Location: Periodizing Patterns (task ID: PeriodizingMnt)

Note! It is not recommended that several users use the same management function at the same time.

The periodizing function is used for distributing a sum over several periods. Periodizing can be done based on a periodizing pattern or selected values. If you have rights to the Periodizing Pattern management task, you can create common periodizing patterns which are available to all users and your own user-specific periodizing patterns. Each user can view the common and their own periodizing patterns, but not periodizing patterns created by other users for their personal use.

Adding periodizing patterns with weighting factors

1.To add a new periodizing pattern with weighting factors, click add-file.

2.In the Add New Periodizing Pattern pop-up window, type an ID to the periodizing pattern in the ID field, and click OK.

3.A new row is added to the Periodizing Patterns list.

4.Under Periodizing Pattern Settings in the middle pane, fill in the periodizing pattern ID, name and description, and select whether you want the periodizing pattern to be available to all users (Common) or only to yourself (User-specific).

Note!Data” cannot be used as a periodizing pattern ID as it is reserved for periodizing based on selected values.

5.In the right-hand side pane, type the weighting factors for the periods in the Weighting Factor column. Note that if you do not give a weighting factor to a period, 0 (zero) is saved as the weighting factor for it. In this case, all periods will be counted in average calculations (for example, when periodizing for balance accounts).

6.If new periods are added to the system, they appear also in the period lists of all existing periodizing patterns with weighting factors.

7.To save the periodizing pattern, click save.

When you delete a periodizing pattern, note that it is not deleted until the change is saved.

Note! If weighting factors are changed for a periodizing pattern that has already been used in an input template, the figures saved to the database are not automatically updated. The data must be saved again for each unit that has used the changed periodized pattern.

Note! It is possible to create a new periodizing pattern with same name as a deleted periodizing pattern, but this may cause unexpected behaviour if the deleted periodizing pattern has been used in input. The data periodized with the weighting factors of the deleted pattern will automatically be periodized with the new pattern (and its new weighting factors) on those input templates and units that have used the deleted periodizing pattern. As a result, the database may include units with figures periodized using the weighting factors of the deleted periodizing pattern as well as the new periodizing pattern by the same name.
